British Hair Awards Photography
For many years now, I have had hair salons commission me to take photographs for the annual British Hairdresser of the Year awards and have been successful in helping a large number of clients get short-listed in their respecitive categories as well as seeing them win one of these much coveted awards. In 2007 two of my clients won awards: Bruno Giamattei of Marc Antoni won Southern Hairdresser of the year and Robert Eaton of Russell Eaton won North Eastern Hairdresser of the year. To see the winning collections that I photograhed for them, click on the above links or on the photographs opposite. Over the years I have helped the following salons get shortlisted or win awards: Alta Moda, Altered Image, Andrew Collinge, Andrew Mulvenna, Anita Cox, Carl Shaw, Clippers, Clipso, Cobella, Errol Douglas, Forresters, Goldsworthy, Headlines, Hooker & Young, Impressions, JFK, Marc Antoni, Nigel Alexandre, Rainbow Room, Reflections, Regis, Rush, Russell Eaton, Shane Bennett, Taylor Phillipps, Thomas McMillan
Tips for organising a British Hair Awards shoot
With the experience I have had I should be expected to know a thing or two about what it takes to create a winning collection. But in all honesty I don't think it is ever possible to predict with any degree of certainty which photographic collection will be the winner in any one category. The British Hair Awards is after all a competition and as such there is always going to be a certain amount of luck involved. But if one can become one of the six short-listed finalists, that in itself can be regarded as a successful outcome. Although I can't guarantee clients will always win, I can certainly use my experience of shooting hair pictures to make sure a photographic session runs smoothly and that your photographs will be noticed and get published in magazines. At the end of the day, most clients will measure the success of a photo shoot in terms of how much good publicity it generates for their business.
